FOMO/FOBO

Fear Of Missing Out
Maximum idealized choice The fear of making a bad choice.

DECIDO PHOBIA
Amplifying the regret of "giving up" while ignoring the joy of getting.

Sophie Calle
After returning to Paris following a seven-year-long trip, Sophie Calle could no longer find her bearings in the city where she grew up. Therefore she decided to follow strangers in the streets and photograph them to create new memories. Among others, she tracked one man for several months, following him all the way to Venice. That gave rise to her work “Suite Vénitienne” (Venetian Pursuit).
THE PARADOX OF CHOICE
Too Much Choice
THE PROBLEMS WITH TOO MUCH CHOICE
If taking away choices is a bad thing, then giving more choices must be good, right? Not necessarily!
Too many choices can overwhelm a person. Cruise the aisles of your grocery store sometime and note how many options you have for various products. Psychologist Barry Schwartz for his book, The Paradox of Choice, did that with salad dressings and noted that there were over 175 different kinds in his store. That was if you didn’t count the balsamic vinegars and olive oils that were alongside the bottle choices. For an indecisive salad-eater, this amount of choice can be staggering.
